Sauce Record
Brand identity design for a underground vinyl record brand
Brand background
Source Records is an independent electronic music label that blends the raw energy of underground culture with a sleek, contemporary aesthetic. Inspired by deep house, techno, and the immersive atmosphere of nightlife, the brand captures the pulse of urban youth who live for music festivals, underground raves, and DJ culture.

Brand vision
Source Records strives to become a cultural landmark for electronic music enthusiasts, connecting the global underground music community through authentic, forward-thinking, and immersive sound and design. We believe music is not just sound—it is an emotional language and a way of life, capable of breaking boundaries, crossing cultures, and bringing like-minded people together.
Our vision is to create a brand that preserves the spirit of underground culture while boldly exploring future possibilities in both sound and visuals. Every release, every vinyl record, and every event is an opportunity to share unique experiences with our audience, inspiring creativity and encouraging free expression.
Branding voice
Source Records speaks in a bold, rhythmic, and visually charged tone — merging the energy of underground music culture with sleek, modern design. Every touchpoint is crafted to feel immersive and dynamic, capturing the pulse of the dance floor while maintaining a sharp, polished edge. The voice is confident, creative, and unapologetically expressive, inspiring audiences to not just listen, but to feel and move.
Colour Palette
Source Records’ brand colours centre on deep blue and neon pink-blue. The deep blue conveys stability and professionalism while reflecting the immersive, atmospheric qualities of electronic music. The neon pink-blue brings vibrancy and energy, evoking nightlife and stage lighting. Together, these colours create a strong contrast that ensures high visibility and recognition across different media—whether on vinyl record labels, social media, or stage visuals. The palette balances a futuristic aesthetic with bold visual impact, reinforcing the brand’s identity within the electronic music scene.

Vinyl Lable
This vinyl record sticker keeps the brand’s circular form, blending seamlessly with the record. The vibrant magenta “S” contrasts with layered blues, creating depth and a live-stage feel. Curved typography follows the record’s rotation, ensuring readability and enhancing the bold, dynamic identity of Source Records.
Typography
The font used on the vinyl record sticker is a clean, rounded sans-serif, chosen for both clarity and style. Its curved edges harmonize with the circular design of the record and logo, while its simple, modern form ensures legibility even when scaled down or placed along the curve. This type choice balances a contemporary feel with easy readability, reinforcing the bold yet approachable brand identity of Source Records.

Design Solution
The Source Records identity was built around flexibility, immersion, and scalability. A deep blue and neon palette reflects the futuristic energy of electronic music and nightlife, while ensuring clarity across all media. The circular logo echoes the form of a vinyl record, allowing for smooth rotation and light effects in animation. Clean, rounded typography conveys flow and inclusiveness, aligning with the brand’s musical ethos. This system adapts seamlessly from vinyl stickers to social media to event projections, with an animated logo evoking stage lights and rhythm—delivering a consistent, immersive experience in both static and motion formats.
Design Challenge
The primary challenge for Source Records was to create a brand identity that resonates with the underground electronic music scene while maintaining a clean, professional aesthetic for broader appeal. The visual system needed to work seamlessly across both physical and digital platforms — from vinyl record stickers to animated logos for social media — without losing its impact at different scales. Additionally, the design had to capture the immersive, high-energy atmosphere of live music events while staying flexible enough to adapt to future releases, collaborations, and evolving trends in electronic music culture.
