With a mission to merge strategy, creativity, and inclusivity, the Lab offers students unique research and design opportunities while actively engaging industry partners and investors. Upholding international standards of excellence, it aims to tackle real-world challenges—ranging from accessibility for people with disabilities to community-focused innovations. In doing so, the Lab not only advances Brisbane’s position in the global design landscape but also serves as a catalyst for transformative, socially responsible change.

Brand vision

To become a leading force in inclusive and socially responsible design, inspiring cross-disciplinary collaboration that transforms ideas into impactful, real-world solutions. By bridging academia, industry, and community, Inclusive Futures Design Lab envisions a future where innovation serves everyone—removing barriers, empowering diverse voices, and shaping environments that are accessible, equitable, and sustainable.

Design Solution

The solution centred on highlighting IF Design Lab’s unique value as a hub for strategic and innovative design that addresses real social challenges. I ensured the visual identity communicated the lab’s mission to unite diverse disciplines, inspire creative problem-solving, and generate tangible, socially impactful outcomes. The design approach emphasised adaptability, professionalism, and a forward-looking vision, aligning with the lab’s role as a catalyst for positive change in both academic and industry contexts.

Design Challenge

Inclusive Futures Design Lab serves a broad and highly diverse target market—ranging from students and academic researchers to industry partners, government bodies, and community groups. While this diversity is a strength, it also creates a challenge: balancing the varied expectations, communication styles, and priorities of multiple stakeholders. The lab must deliver solutions that are both academically rigorous and commercially viable, while ensuring accessibility, inclusivity, and cultural sensitivity for all.

Brand voice

Inclusive Futures Design Lab speaks with a tone that is collaborative, forward-thinking, and socially conscious. The voice is grounded in empathy and clarity, making complex design concepts accessible to all stakeholders—from students and industry partners to community members. It is solution-oriented, always aiming to inspire action and spark innovation. The style balances professional credibility with a sense of openness, inviting diverse perspectives and fostering trust in the lab’s mission to design for inclusion and impact.

Colour Palette

The palette blends white for clarity and openness, yellow for creativity and forward thinking, and black for authority and confidence. Together, they convey IF Design Lab’s commitment to delivering innovative, purposeful, and impactful solutions with a clean, modern aesthetic that balances warmth, originality, and strength.
