T-shirt, landyard and name tage design

Design approach

This year’s QCAD Open Day T-shirt design is intended to be representative of its time, capturing the people, objects, scenes, messages, and culture of this era. QCAD is the oldest art school in Queensland, so I incorporated Michelangelo’s David — a timeless symbol of history and classical art — as the central figure to represent heritage and tradition.

The modern elements are layered onto David to reflect today’s creative culture: VR headset, headphones, camera, coffee cup, laptop, and flip-flops. These details speak to the school’s values, the relaxed Queensland lifestyle, and the lighthearted “just woke up and rushed to school” mood that perfectly fits the Open Day spirit.

The design bridges the past and the present, celebrating QCAD’s legacy while embracing the energy, tools, and culture of today’s creative generation.

Liveworms

Design approach

This design studio is like a mysterious cave filled with colourful little monsters, each peeking out and observing the world with curiosity. Every monster represents an intern designer’s unique personality and creative ideas—sometimes strange, sometimes bold—but always full of life and imagination. Together, these quirky characters embody the diversity and experimental spirit that defines the studio.

The postcard design uses bright, contrasting colours and playful composition to capture this atmosphere. It symbolises Liveworm Southbank as a space where individuality thrives, differences are embraced, and creativity flows freely—making the studio a joyful, dynamic environment for exploration and design.
